Latitudes – Caroline Schofield

The photograph below gives a glimps of Carolines work for this exhibition, she is very interested in the period around World War I and how it effected the lives of the Overend sisters living in Airfield house at the time.  Of particular interest are the major changes in society at a time when ordinary people were caught up in unimaginable conflict. During World War I men went to war to protect, and for the love of their families and countries. The disparity between home and war is explored in imagery through traditional women’s craft using stitch, fleece and cotton.
