Tara Ní Nualláin’s mixed media textiles work is a visual expression of personal experience. She is particularly interested in the themes of memory, social and familial traditions.

The exploration of these themes has lead to her current work which is primarly concerned with place. Tara uses drawn and stitched maps and GPS co-ordinates to reinforce the underlying theme. Most recently she has made a series of mixed media sculptures based on traditional road side mile stones and referencing GPS tracking devices used in mobile phones.

In these troubled times Tara seeks to encourage reflection on where we are from and where we are going, our desire to mark our passing through the landscape and locate ourselves within it.Tara uses mixed media textiles, focusing on paper and fabric collage unified through stitch.

Tara Ní Nualláin was born and lives in Dublin, she qualified with a BA in Art and Design Education from N.C.A.D. in 1998 with a major in Textiles. Having taught for a number of years she returned to education to pursue an MA in Interactive Media, completed in 2001. Since then she has been teaching art and textiles at further education. She is a founder member of and regular exhibitor with the Filament Fibre Artists.
